MarkHub24 successfully conducted a live masterclass titled “Think Differently Using Excel – Part 01”, aimed at helping participants build a practical and structured approach to using Excel for real-world data analysis. The session was led by Subhro Sengupta and was hosted via Google Meet, with around 30 participants actively attending the session.

The primary objective of the masterclass was to move beyond the conventional understanding of Excel as just a spreadsheet tool and introduce participants to the concept of data thinking. The session was designed in a way that focused not only on tools and functions but also on how to approach, structure, and interpret data effectively.
The session began with an introduction to the importance of Excel in today’s data-driven environment. Participants were guided to understand how Excel plays a crucial role in organizing and making sense of large volumes of data across domains such as marketing, business analytics, and operations. The speaker emphasized that while many individuals are familiar with basic Excel functions, very few understand how to use Excel as a tool for decision-making.
As the session progressed, the focus shifted to practical applications. Participants were introduced to methods of cleaning and structuring raw datasets, which is often the first and most critical step in any analysis. The speaker demonstrated how unorganized data can lead to confusion and incorrect insights, and how simple structuring techniques can significantly improve clarity and usability.
A key highlight of the masterclass was the emphasis on thinking before applying functions. Instead of jumping directly into formulas, participants were encouraged to first understand the nature of the data and define the objective of the analysis. This approach helped participants realize that Excel is not just about technical skills but also about logical thinking and problem-solving.
The session also covered essential Excel techniques and shortcuts that can improve efficiency and productivity. These included practical tips on handling datasets, organizing information, and simplifying repetitive tasks. The hands-on nature of the session allowed participants to follow along and apply these concepts in real time using the shared Excel sheet.
Engagement during the session remained high, with participants actively interacting, asking questions, and sharing their perspectives. The interactive environment ensured that learners were not just passive listeners but were involved in the learning process.
By the end of the session, participants had gained a clearer understanding of how to approach Excel in a structured manner and how to use it effectively for analyzing real-world data. The masterclass successfully achieved its goal of shifting the mindset from simply “using Excel” to “thinking with Excel.”
The session concluded with positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the practical insights and clarity provided throughout the session. Certificates of participation were shared with attendees, recognizing their involvement and commitment to learning.
Overall, the masterclass marked another successful initiative by MarkHub24 in creating meaningful and application-driven learning experiences. The response to the session reflects a growing interest among students and early professionals in developing practical data skills, and sets the stage for future sessions in the series.
