The session, titled “From Resume to Results: Mastering the Art of ATS-Driven Job Applications,” was designed to bridge the gap between traditional CV writing and modern recruitment practices driven by technology.

The masterclass was led by Dr. Aastha Sawhney, an accomplished Life Coach, Certified Soft Skills Trainer, Researcher, Author, and Educator. Her expertise and practical approach enabled participants to gain a deeper understanding of how resumes are evaluated in today’s hiring ecosystem.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 98 attendees from 21 colleges joining the virtual event. This diverse representation reflected a strong interest among students in becoming more career-ready and understanding the nuances of effective self-presentation.

The session commenced with an introduction to the importance of resumes as a critical first step in the hiring process. Dr. Sawhney highlighted how most resumes today are not initially reviewed by humans but are filtered through Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). This set the context for the session, emphasizing the need to design resumes that are both human-friendly and machine-readable.

One of the key highlights of the masterclass was a detailed explanation of how ATS works. Participants were introduced to the concept of keyword optimization, formatting strategies, and structuring techniques that increase the chances of a resume being shortlisted. Dr. Sawhney explained how aligning a CV with job descriptions can significantly improve visibility in automated screening processes.

The session also focused on the practical aspects of resume building. Participants were guided on how to craft impactful bullet points by quantifying achievements, using action-oriented language, and clearly demonstrating value. Special emphasis was given to avoiding common mistakes such as cluttered layouts, irrelevant information, and lack of customization for specific roles.

Another important segment of the session addressed the challenges faced by students and freshers who often struggle with limited experience. Dr. Sawhney provided actionable strategies to effectively showcase skills, academic projects, internships, and extracurricular activities in a way that highlights potential rather than just experience.

The interactive nature of the session allowed participants to engage actively, with several questions being addressed in real time. This created a more personalized learning experience and helped clarify common doubts related to resume building and job applications.

Throughout the session, the emphasis remained on shifting the mindset from simply creating a resume to strategically positioning oneself for opportunities. Participants were encouraged to view their CV as a personal marketing document that communicates their value proposition clearly and concisely.

The session concluded with key takeaways centered around the importance of optimizing resumes for ATS, aligning them with job roles, and continuously refining them based on feedback and industry trends. Participants were also advised to stay proactive in building their profiles and developing relevant skills alongside creating strong resumes.

Overall, the masterclass proved to be highly insightful and impactful. It not only enhanced participants’ understanding of modern recruitment practices but also equipped them with practical tools to improve their chances of getting shortlisted.

MarkHub24 continues to remain committed to its mission of making students industry-ready by delivering structured, practical, and relevant learning experiences. This session stands as another step forward in empowering students with the knowledge and skills required to navigate today’s competitive professional landscape.
